Can Be Profitable For Your Business"
If you make or re-sell scented soy candles, you may ne interested in looking into candle fundraising as another source of income.
First of all make sure you have a 100% soy or other natural wax product. Make sure it uses an all cotton wick and that the candles burn properly.
I am not saying to rely on candle fundraising alone, but you can put it in your candle selling arsenal. I am going to give you some of the ways you can find and start the process of helping out local groups with their fundraising needs.
What You Need To Do First
Have a great, clean and healthy soy candle.
Understand you are going to make a lot less money per candle, but you will sell hundreds at a time, with very little work.
Have a nice pictures made of your candle or use company provided broshures.
Some samples of a few of your scents. What I do is sacrifice a few of my votives, by removing the wick, putting the votive in a heavy zip lock bag and pulvurize the votive with a hammer. Your can use a cheese grader, but the hammer technique is much more fun.
Then teaspoon the scented powder into a 1" by 2" little zip lock bags and staple it to you business card.
Put a packet together, explaining your program, the cost of your candles, what the suggested retail is and what kind of profit the can expect from their efforts.
Label your candles, with your re-order information. (Very Important)
Now What Do I Do?
You find groups and organizations. During the summer, you will see groups out on the street with signs about a car wash, pull in. Get a nice car wash ask if the coordinator is there, someone is usually in charge, give them a packet and explain your program. Some weekends I have washed my car several times. Has it paid off? Yes!
Contact schools or stop by and ask if you can post one of your flyers and where would be the best palce to post it.
Call youth pastors at your local churches.
Talk to daycare center owners.
If you sell scented soy candles you are probably already selling to several spa's, ask them if they ever do fundraising for worthwhile causes.
Use your imagination and you will be surprised how soon you could have a great candle fundraising effort going.
Good Luck and above all have fun expanding your candle business.
