of Scented Candle Oil
Scented Candle Oil
My fellow candle lovers, can you remember the first time you smelled a scented oil candle? I'm sure you can. My first was butter rum and I loved it. But I remember saying "aren't candles magical enough"? With that glow, the flicker, magical.
When you burned your first candle it was magical. All by itself.
It was usually when the lights went out during a storm.
"Mom To The Rescue"
It was super quiet, you heard some shuffling, and suddenly, a little flame appeared somewhere in the room. Soon the whole family was seated around the kitchen table staring at that little flame. You would look at the other faces around the table. The faces looked almost angelic, glowing in the light of that one candle. What could be more magical? Now how could that ever be improved? And the thought of scented candle oil never entered your mind.
Here Comes The Scented Oil Candles!
In The History we learned how the first scented candle oils came into being. They used everything from seeds, bathing oils, nuts, fruits and even insects for their scented candle oil. The healers in those days used essential oils made from herbs, plants, flowers and other natural ingredients. Was also added to candle wax to scent them, the very first aromatherapy candles.
Two Oils, Maybe Three, One Candle!
The main focus of this entire website is that you never get ripped off by buying a candle that doesn't fill your home with the sweet scents you choose, and not all the other junk petroleum based candles put into the air. So when buying scented candles or scented candle oil, to make your own candles, from me or anyone else, make sure it's a 100% natural wax candle. That is scented with fragrance oils or essential oils, pure essential oils, that make up perfect scented oil candles.
These two oils fragrance and essential oils are followed by a third oil which is synthetic fragrances. Now don't get me wrong synthetic oils are a big part of the fragrance industry. But again with knowledge comes power, so know what you're getting. Synthetic oils give us some of the most unique scents for scented oil candles. But we need to stay clear of anything synthetic in Essential Oils, these oils need to be "pure" to be effective.
From this moment on you will know, what to ask, what answer to expect, when it comes to scented soy candles.
We will go into much more detail on the differences between Fragrance Oils and Essential Oils in a minute. But lets look at the ways they are alike first.
Both Of These Oils Can Be Used For..."Almost Any Kind Of Scenting"
These two oils can be used to scent almost anything, candles, soaps, massage candles, bath and body lotions, shampoos, and other skin care products. Like almost anything synthetic or natural, it all boils down to the source of the oils and how they are extracted and manufactured.
The only time you really need to take a further look at how your soy candle is scented. Is how it's advertised if you want a 100% Soy Wax Candle or a 100% Natural Wax Candle. Or a 100% All Natural Candle, big difference.
We went into great detail on natural waxes at The Candle Waxes. If you use an all "natural wax" candle you're 99% on the way of having the healthiest candle on the market today. But if you want a 100% ALL NATURAL Scented Candle you need two other pieces.
Building The All Natural Scented Oil Candle
1.) First of all you need to have an all natural wax, preferably soy, it takes scent better and has better scent throw.
2.) Next you need an ALL COTTON WICK! We go into much more detail on candle wicks in the The Wicks section.
3.) And lastly you need to have 100% Pure Essential Oils for scenting. Which not only gives you a 100% all natural candle. It also gives you aromatherapy soy candles. There is a big difference between essential oils and pure essential oils.
But I am a firm believer if a sooty, toxin filled petroleum scented candle can make you sick. You don't need an all natural aromatherapy soy candle to make you feel better. And you can not add any kind of scented candle oil to a petroleum (paraffin) based candle and think for a moment it's good and healthy for you.
So don't get hung up on the scenting, just to feel good, relax and create memories or bring back memories. The use of essential oils, is only essential (no pun intended) if you are looking for medicinal or therapeutic qualities.
Now lets dig a little deeper into Fragrance Oils, Essential Oils, and Synthetic Oils.
